Biography

Sister Joseph Miriam was born Mary Elizabeth Sheehan on Sept. 3, 1918. She died on March 29, 2007. She was 88 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 70 years.

Sister Joseph Miriam entered the Congregation on Aug. 10, 1936. She professed first vows on March 11, 1939, and final vows on Jan. 23, 1945.

Her teaching ministry began in 1939 at St. Ann, Washington, D.C. She also taught in Maryland, Massachusetts, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Illinois and Indiana. She also ministered at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in the Infirmary, the Mission Stamp Department and the Plant Business Office.

She was known for her quick and always ready smile.
