Biography
Sister Gloria is a native of Vincennes, Indiana. Currently, she ministers in a music ministry at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
Sister Gloria, formerly Sister Cecilia, entered the Congregation on January 6, 1958. She professed first and final vows on August 15, 1960 and 1965, respectively.
She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in music education. She also has a master’s degree in music education from Indiana State University.
Sister Gloria has ministered as a teacher, parish music coordinator, music director and pastoral associate.
Sister Gloria said she and her sisters worked in the melon fields for their uncle as children.
“What I remember was that early in the morning, when the furrows were newly plowed, I loved walking barefoot in the cool earth,” Sister Gloria said.
She added her favorite song is “Glow worm,” by the Mills Brothers.
“That’s what my dad often called me, and my cousin could play it on the piano for us,” Sister Gloria said.
