Biography

Sister Dorothy Ellen is a native of Indianapolis. Currently, she ministers in residential services at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

Sister Dorothy entered the Congregation in 1950, professing first vows in 1952 and final vows in 1957.

She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education and has a master’s degree in elementary education from Indiana University. She also has another master’s degree in theology from Mundelein University in Mundelein, Illinois.

Of her ministries, Sister Dorothy taught at Annunciation in Brazil from 1956-1959, while also teaching at St. Luke in Indianapolis from 1968-1972.

She also ministered as a pastoral associate at Assumption Parish in Coal City, Illinois, from 1998-2002, and was a volunteer to the parish and the Morning Star Mission Nursing Home from 2002-2012.

She returned to the Woods in 2012.
