Biography

Sister Cecile was born Mary Louise Morse on Sept. 6, 1908. She died on Sept. 2, 2006. She was 97 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 71 years.

Sister Cecile entered the Congregation on Jan. 14, 1935. She professed first vows on Aug. 15, 1937, and final vows on Jan. 23, 1943.

For more than three decades, she ministered at Providence Press. She also ministered for 10 years at the Print Shop. She also ministered in maintenance and as the convent bookkeeper at Ladywood High School, Indianapolis. In 1980, she began a ministry as the attendance office at Mother Theodore Guerin High School, River Grove, Ill., at the age of 72. She also provided parish service at Our Lady of the Greenwood, Greenwood, Ind., before  returning to the Woods in 1989.

Following in her father and brother’s footsteps, Sister Cecile was already a licensed union printer before entering the Congregation.
