Biography
Sister Brigid Ann was born on April 15, 1940, in Whiting, Indiana.
“It was there that I was baptized and received my earliest education and religious training,” she said.
Following high school graduation, Sister Brigid Ann entered the novitiate of the Sisters of Providence. She professed first and final vows on August 15, 1960 and 1965, respectively.
Sister Brigid Ann graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree, while earning a master’s degree in education from Ball State University and another master’s degree in social work from the University of Louisville.
Her teaching ministries took her to the inner city of Chicago, as well as stops in Indianapolis, and Greenwood, Greenfield, Lafayette and Loogootee, all in Indiana. Her final ministry was in prayer at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
Following the completion of her master’s degree in social work, she worked in Topeka, Kansas, New Albany, Indiana, and Louisville.
“I even retired three times,” Sister Brigid Ann said.
Sister Brigid Ann enjoyed working in the yard in nice weather. She also liked baking pies, cookies and cakes and sharing them with her neighbors, and loved mystery novels.
