Biography
Sister Bernice, formerly Sister Ann Bernice, was born Anna Bernice on Aug. 22, 1922. She died on Nov. 26, 2013. She was 91 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 73 years.
Sister Bernice entered the Congregation in January 1940. She professed first vows in 1942 and final vows in 1946.
Sister Bernice ministered as a teacher at schools in Illinois, Indiana and Oregon. She also ministered as a pastoral associate at St. John Parish in Newburgh, Indiana, for 13 years and was the Congregation’s director of postulants for a time.
Sister Denise Wilkinson said of Sister Bernice, “Her ability to be quiet and centered when I talked with her amazed me.”
