Biography
Sister Agnes Joan was born on Feb. 21, 1910, in Kaifeng, Honan Province, China. She died on Jan. 17, 2004. She was 93 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 74 years.
Sister Agnes Joan entered the Congregation on May 11, 1930. She professed first vows on Aug. 15, 1933, and final vows on Sept. 25, 1938.
Sister Agnes Joan ministered in Kaifeng from 1937 to 1949 and then ministered at Providence-in-China in Formosa (Taiwan) from 1949 to 1951. She taught mathematics in schools in California and Indiana, including Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. She also taught calculus at Providence College, Taichung from 1972 to 1980.
Sister Agnes Joan was known to have a radiant smile.
