Biography
Sister Agnes, formerly Sister Agnes Virginia, was born Nov. 19, 1921. She died April 8, 2015. She was 93 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 75 years.
Sister Agnes graduated from the Juniorate at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, and entered the Congregation on Jan. 5, 1939. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1941 and 1947, respectively.
Sister Agnes ministered for 25 years in teaching, including a six-year stint as principal of Saint Jude’s in Indianapolis. In 1966, she was elected to the General Council of the Congregation. Sister Agnes also ministered among developmentally disabled adults for nine years. She returned to the Woods in 2000.
It has been said that Sister Agnes loved each person she met, accepting and receiving each without judgment.
