History of Bishop McGuinnes High School Photo provided by the Archives Department of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City. This school opened in 1950 as a co-educational high school. It was to be staffed by six different orders of religious sisters, two priests and several lay teachers. The Sisters of Providence staffed the Commercial Department with two sisters. The sisters remained in this position until 1963, when an acute shortage of high school teachers necessitated their withdrawal….

John F. Kennedy High School, Manchester, Missouri

…Kennedy High School was built by the St. Louis Archdiocese, its first for both boys and girls. It was actually co-educational, as boys and girls were in separate but connected buildings. At its opening in 1968, it was staffed by priests, Sisters of Providence, and lay teachers. The administrator and principal for the boys was a priest, and the principal for the girls was Sister Mary Magdalen Schwartz, SP. The Sisters of Providence remained at Kennedy High School until 1978….
