Certainly, Sister Marie Agatha Vonderheide is someone who has exemplified to all of us the graciousness and kindness of God, said Sister Rosemary Schmalz in her commentary on Sister Marie Agatha, who died March 15, 2014, at the age of 92.

“She spent her life using words to give testimony to this word whom she recognized and loved as life and light for all,” said Sister Dawn Tomaszewki in her commentary on the life of Sister Cordelia Ann Moran, who died Feb. 13, 2014.

“Simplicity, happiness and obliging others without being judgmental radiated from her manner,” said Sister Joan Matthews in her commentary for Sister Ann Francis Hammersley who died Jan. 29, 2014 at the age of 87.

“It’s as if this was always where she was meant to be; this place and these people were the love of her life. Her personality melded with their culture—their music and their spirituality became her own.” Sister Mary Margaret Quinn spent 36 years serving the African-American community at Holy Angels Church in Indianapolis. She died Nov. 29, 2013. She was 78 years old and a Sister of Providence for 60 years.

“I’ve heard these words used over and over to describe Sister Bernice: wise, centered, interested in everyone and accepting of everyone, perceptive – sometimes too perceptive, challenging when needed yet always affirming,” said Sister Denise Wilkinson of Sister Bernice Kuper who died Nov. 26, 2013. Sister Bernice was 91 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 73 years.

Some words that describe Sister Eleanor Pierce are: prayerful, loyal, fun-loving, excellent teacher and administrator, a good friend and generous. She was always ready to listen and then hold what was said in confidence.Sister Eleanor Pierce died November 23, 2013. She was 90 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 71 years.

When I asked her “What has been one of the best things about being a Sister of Providence?” Sister Eymard replied, “Being so close to God all these years.” Sister Mary Eymard Campeggio died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013. She was 101 years old and had lived 82 years as a Sister of Providence.

“To converse with Catherine was to see the face of God,” said a person to whom Sister Catherin Livers offered spiritual direction. Sister Catherine died Oct. 20, 2013, at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. She was 92 years old.

“We enjoyed Sister Conrad’s quiet presence, her thoughtful, loving, deliberate ways. That is what we will all miss. Conrad, we thank you for who you were and are.” Sister Conrad Monrad died June 28, 2013. She was 92 years old and had lived 74 years as a Sister of Providence.

“It seemed as though Sister Mary Pat was always looking forward to the next encounter, the next opportunity to be of service.” Sister Mary Patricia Peacock died June 28, 2013 at age 85. She had lived 68 years as a Sister of Providence.

“There is a giving which will not impoverish and a withholding that will not enrich,” Sister Danielle Sullivan thought this an appropriate summary for the life of Sister Dorothy McLaughlin who died Monday, June 17, 2013 at age 94 having lived 77 years as a Sister of Providence.
