With the next year’s invite, I decided why not give the Providence Associates a try? My first visit to the Woods was astonishing. Once on the inside, there was a sense of peace. All of God’s disciples were welcoming, nice and full of love. That has become one of the best life-altering choices I’ve made.

Let us spend some time this week reflecting on how we are forming a loving relationship with God and others in our hearts and in our daily interactions.

As Christians serving a broken, impoverished world, our work isn’t done

You can now share in the heavenly banquet that has been prepared for you for all eternity

Mother Theodore followed the death announcement with a telling of this young (aged 21) sister’s story. We learn that she lived her faith and her vocation in a most holy and virtuous way, and she approached her death with serenity.

In prayer this week, perhaps we can consider what words of Jesus are hardest for us to accept. Can we speak honestly with Jesus about them?

“My song will be with you forever, you, my light, my love, my friend. You will lead and guide me home.”

That is what we celebrate today, after all, the witness of two vibrant women willing to keep turning to the God who calls, willing to be transformed in order to transform, willing to sow seeds that others may come to reap.

Saturday, Aug. 14, was such a joyous day for the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods! Sister Joni Luna professed her perpetual vows as a Sister of Providence and Sister Jessica Vitente professed her first vows. We are so thankful to our Provident God that we have joyful, brave and loving women continuing to give their YES to our Congregation and to the world.

“Indeed it is very difficult, and it requires an uncommon virtue, not to make others suffer when we suffer,” writes Saint Mother Theodore Guerin.

I’ve found a treasure! I’ve found the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary of-the-Woods, Indiana, and they have found me. I pray to Provident God that we will never let go of each other.
