1 Church 1 Family: Catholic Public Witness for Immigrants

The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, Providence Associates and others came together in solidarity on Wednesday, Oct. 22 for a blessing prayer in the Church of the Immaculate Conception prior to seeing many Sisters and others off via bus ride to Clay County, Indiana.

Those making the trip stopped by the Clay County Courthouse and Clay County Justice Center where they joined many others for the 1 Church 1 Family: Catholic Public Witness for Immigrants prayer vigil rally.

The vigil was part of the National Catholic Public Witness for immigrants, with many events taking place nationwide.

The Sisters joined other as they gathered in prayerful, nonviolent witness to God’s love for migrants near the Clay County Justice Center, which is an ICE detention center.

The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, are a congregation of Roman Catholic women religious (sisters) who minister throughout the United States and Taiwan. Saint Mother Theodore Guerin founded the Sisters of Providence in 1840. The congregation has a mission of being God's Providence in the world by committing to performing works of love, mercy and justice in service among God's people.
