White Violet Center teaming with ISU for month-long Earth Day Celebration
For 23 years, White Violet Center for Eco-Justice (WVC), a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, have conducted the annual Earth Day Celebration on the campus at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods as a call to action to all members of the community.
And for the past 19 years, the Office of Sustainability at Indiana State University (ISU) has offered Earth Day Celebrations as well.

This year, WVC has teamed with ISU’s Office of Sustainability with the hope of reaching a wider audience for a month-long Earth Day Celebration.
The theme for the campaign this year is “We’re All in This Together: Eat, Shop, Support Local.”
The goal for both organizations is to raise awareness of the importance of supporting local businesses. Shopping local is one of the easiest and most effective ways to reduce carbon footprints and to create a resilient community.
During the month of April, area businesses who will be sponsoring the event will have punch cards available for customers. All customers are encouraged to attend many of the events that are being planned during the month. Every event you attend your card will be punched and those who tally five card punches will be eligible to enter a raffle for a grand prize.
Earth Day is one of the largest and most widely recognized environmental holidays as we are welcoming in Spring and celebrating nature.
During the month of April, the two organizations will host several events, including a movie night at the ISU campus.
