Is God calling you to be a Sister of Providence?

Are you being called to be a Catholic Sister?

Single Catholic women ages 18-42 are invited to come and see how the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, live out their lives of authentic meaning – centered on God and serving others during the Congregation’s spring “Come and See” retreat.

The retreat will begin at 4 p.m., on Friday, March 28, 2025, and will conclude at 2 p.m., on Sunday, March 30.

The focus of the retreat will be the question, “will you answer God’s call?” We will explore the passage Matthew 4:19, “Come and follow me and I will make you fishers of persons.”

During the retreat, take the opportunity to meet and hear other sisters’ stories about their call and their lives today. Experience how the Sisters of Providence live the call through prayer, vows, ministries and community life.

Take the opportunity to immerse yourself in the sacred grounds at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods and focus on prayer and your own discernment.

Learn what the Sisters of Providence have to offer, including:

  • Faithfulness to prayer and total trust in Providence,
  • A lived legacy of love, mercy and justice from foundress, Saint Mother Theodore Guerin,
  • A close-knit community that has called Saint Mary-of-the-Woods home since 1840,
  • A long history of standing up for justice, and
  • Ministries that respond to current needs, including the U.S./Mexico border, teaching, serving in the medical field, in churches, in social justice arenas and more.

Those interested in attending the free retreat are encouraged to bring a journal or notepad and a reusable water bottle. Meals and housing will be provided.
