Let Us Assist You

“National Plan a Funeral Day” is October 30. Yes, I agree, there seems to be a national day for everything! In this instance, however, the Sisters of Providence may be able to assist you with your planning.

Did you know that those who have a relationship with the Sisters of Providence can choose to have their cremains interred at the Woods?

We began this ministry in response to our many friends wanting to find a meaningful and sacred space for their final resting place.

Who Qualifies?

This means that if you went to one of our schools (grade, high, junior college or SMWC), you qualify. If you are a relative of a Sister of Providence, a Providence Associate, a former member or a benefactor, you qualify. If you are a former or current staff member, or a frequent volunteer, you qualify. If you are a member of St. Mary’s Village Church, you qualify. Finally, if you are a spouse or partner of any of the above, you qualify.

And consider this daunting fact. According to Dove Cremation and Funerals website in Kansas, the rather intimidating reality is that if you or someone you love died tomorrow, the surviving family would be faced with at least 88 decisions to make in a very short amount of time.

These decisions range from notifications to authorities, family and friends, collection of information for the necessary paperwork, decisions about funeral or memorial services, payment arrangements, estate matters and much more.

About the Process

The good news is that the Sisters of Providence have a simple and uncomplicated process to assist you with at least some of those realities so they can be preplanned and handled ahead of time.

Helping your loved ones know what your wishes are when the time comes keeps them from having to juggle their grief with trying to plan your funeral and guess what your wishes might have been. Ultimately, pre-planning your funeral is an act of kindness and love.

Without going into all the details in this blog about our Providence Community Cemetery (PCC) and the columbaria available for cremains interment, let me just refer you to our webpage.

If after reading the details you desire to inquire further, that website contains an email form to fill out. That starts the process with the Sisters of Providence and me, the PCC Minster.

Future Plans

I also want to mention that we plan to order another two columbaria for delivery in the spring of 2025. At that time, the discount price mentioned on the website, ($2,500) for the lower rows (F, G, H), will be discontinued.

Please feel free to share this blog with people you know who have a relationship with the Sisters of Providence. Thank you.

This is a wonderful opportunity! I recently took advantage of it and it has given me great peace of mind. Sr. Ann, the cemetery minister, is gracious and sensitive.
