Sisters to continue ‘Forest Meditation’ program in November
Join the Sister of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, on Saturday, Nov. 30, as they resume the “Forest Meditations” program.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. and will take place at the St. Joseph’s Nature Trail at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
The trail is a mown path through the forest. It is considered an easy trail with uneven ground and some slight inclines and declines.
During the retreat, Sister Corbin Hannah, SP, invites participants to learn how nature can teach and heal by connecting with the Divine. Connect with yourself and listen as the forest offers you time to reflect on life. Leave feeling grounded and calm as you re-enter the world with more clarity and peace.
“It is difficult to find the calm below the incessant thoughts running through our minds,” Sister Corbin said. “At its core, meditation is a practice of catching ourselves lost in thought and returning to the present moment. Meditation is like a muscle. The more one practices, and uses the muscle, the stronger it gets.”
Participants are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes and dress according to the weather. Severe weather may cause cancellations, but meditations will take place is there is only light rain.
There is no cost to attend the program, but donations would be welcomed.
