Sisters of Providence to host Memory Café beginning in September

The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, invite people living with early-to-moderate memory loss and their care partners to our Memory Café events, beginning Sept. 18 at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.

Monthly gatherings will take place on the third Wednesday of each month from 2-3:30 p.m. All gatherings will take place in the Providence Hall Dining Room.

Memory Café’s are a welcoming place for people living with early-to-moderate memory loss and their care partners. Guests are invited to the events for a time to laugh, learn and have fun together.

Susan Moorefield, who serves as the Congregation’s Holistic Well-Being Coordinator, said “The Sisters of Providence focus on breaking boundaries and creating hope. Their focus is on the inclusive Gospel message of love, mercy and justice.

“Often, those with brain change and their caregivers may become more isolated,” she continued. “Some may even experience loss of friends and find it more difficult to go out in public. The Memory Café creates a place where everyone is welcome and accepted. It also connects people on similar life journeys for support and companionship.”

Beverages and snacks will be provided and there is no cost to attend.
