WVC schedules ‘Beginning Weaving with John Salamone’
Interested in learning more about weaving? If so, plan on joining others at White Violet Center for Eco-Justice, a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, for the upcoming workshop “Beginning Weaving with John Salamone.”
The workshop will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., EDT, on March 23.
Join others during a day of weaving instruction. The workshop will offer the hands-on experience needed for all to continue their weaving adventures at home.
The workshop is set up for beginners and those looking to brush up on those rusty weaving skills.
During the workshop, all will measure yarns, thread looms and weave a project to take home. Different styles of looms will be on hand and instructors will detail how to learn to read drafts, how to choose fibers and yarns for specific types of weaving and which looms may be best for preferred weaving techniques.
Salamone has 30-plus years of experience in weaving, mostly weaving scarves and shawls for sale at craft shows, festivals and galleries. His work is currently available at CCA Gallery in Carmel, Indiana.
Cost to attend the workshop is $95 and the registration deadline is March 15.
