Celebrate a Majestic River of Reflection and Renewal

Note: The following information was provided by our Climate Change Task Force.

In today’s proclamation of the gospel, the evangelist Luke details a conversation between Jesus and his disciples. “Someone said to him, ‘I will follow you wherever you go …’ And to another (disciple) Jesus said, ‘Follow me.'”

Pope Francis affirms the synodality of our Chapters’ Annual Meetings, LGU/Circle theological reflections, liturgical celebrations, and communal prayer as he celebrates the reality of “rivers in nature” and as he invites the People of God to “an immersive journey of synodal dialogue and conversion” beginning today in the opening of the Synod on Synodality:

“Another parallel perspective has to do with the Catholic Church’s commitment to synodality. This year, the closing of the Season of Creation on Oct. 4, the feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, will coincide with the opening of the Synod on Synodality. Like rivers in nature, fed by myriad tiny brooks and larger streams and rivulets, the synodal process that began in October 2021 invites all those who take part on a personal or community level, to coalesce in a majestic river of reflection and renewal. The entire People of God is being invited to an immersive journey of synodal dialogue and conversion.” (Message of Pope Francis for Creation Day 2023).
