Prayer for Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI
Continue to pray with us on the passing of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. The Vatican announced on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, that Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI passed away at the age of 95 at the Mater Ecclesiae Monastery in the Vatican.

We continue to ask that the Providence community join us in prayer for repose of the soul of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. May he rest in peace.
During our Sunday, Jan. 1, Mass, we offered this as a prayer:
Providence God, we pray for His Holiness Benedict XVI, Roman Pontiff Emeritus, who has taught us that God is love and that we are saved in hope.
We give thanks for his lifetime of service to the Church and for the example of his integrity and humility.
We pray in gratitude for his ministry as spiritual guide and protector of the Church.
Grant that your servant, whom you made vicar of Peter and shepherd of the Church, may rejoice forever in the vision of your glory.
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ who said, ‘Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Amen.
