It’s back!

The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Indiana, are inviting all to take part in their 14th, and first since 2015, Hole-y-One Golf Scramble, scheduled to take place Friday, Sept. 27, 2019, at the Hulman Links Golf Course.

Space is limited, so all persons interested in playing in the event are encouraged to register as soon as possible. The registration deadline is Sept. 20. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m., with registration, followed by lunch at 11 a.m. Tee times will begin at noon and the awards ceremony is set for 4:30 p.m.

Sisters of Providence General Superior Sister Dawn Tomaszewski said the Congregation is indebted for the support from The Terre Haute Convention and Visitors Bureau, specifically Executive Director David Patterson, who helped bring back the scramble.

“We’re so grateful to David Patterson for the help and encouragement he has given the Sisters of Providence in bringing back our Hole-Y-One Golf Scramble,” Sister Dawn said. “It is always great to welcome the long-time supporters and friends of the Congregation to this fun-filled event. We also hope this will be an opportunity for us as well as the participants to meet new friends.”

Cost for a four-player team is $500, while the single player cost is $125. Cost for four-player team plus on-course recognition is $900, while cost for on-course recognition is $400. Teams can be male, female or mixed.

“The Sisters of Providence involved in the event, both as volunteers and golfers, have as much fun as our participants,” Sister Dawn said. “It is such a relaxed and positive environment. From delivering snacks to selling mulligans, it gives us a chance to express our gratitude and thank our friends in person for their ongoing support.

“And one of these days, a Sister of Providence golf team might actually win the scramble!”

The scramble will follow a format of the round of golf with the teams competing for the lowest score. Each team member will tee off and the best drive will then be selected. Play will continue through each hole with all team members playing from that spot. This process continues until the hole is completed.

Each player can also purchase a fun pack at the scramble for $20 per player. The fun pack includes two mulligans, a pick-a-putt and six raffle tickets.

Door prizes will also be handed out, which have been donated by local community leaders.

Past scrambles have also taken place at Rea Park, Idle Creek and the Country Club of Terre Haute.

“We hope this is an opportunity for people to come out and have some fun, perhaps get to know us and their teammates better, while also supporting the mission of the Sisters of Providence,” Sister Dawn said. “Like most non-profit organizations, we depend on the goodwill of the Terre Haute corporations, individual donors and lots of friends to help support the good work we try to do in the community and beyond.”
