Sheehy receives ’40 Under 40’ recognition
Specialty retail magazines Gift Shop, Stationery Trends and Museums and More, recently announced it’s Gift + Stationery 40 Under 40 awards and Ryan Sheehy, Manager of Linden Leaf Gifts – a ministry of the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods – was among the people recognized.
More than 100 professionals were nominated for the award this year.
“The caliber of nominations this year was outstanding, and made the selection process incredibly difficult,” Great American Media Services CEO and Publisher of the Specialty Retail Division Matt McCallum said in a press release. “We were excited to honor the Class of 2018 during the Las Vegas Market, and look forward to seeing how they impact the industry in the coming years.”
The ceremony at the Las Vegas Market took place in late July.
Sheehy became the store manager of Linden Leaf Gifts in 2015. He said he was grateful for the recognition, particularly for what it means for the gift shop.
“The award highlights and recognizes the positive impact that a store can have in its mission to carry justice to the retail industry,” Sheehy said. “The partnership Linden Leaf Gifts has forged with fair trade products has been a particularly important agenda for me especially. I hope to continue the positive growth in-store and online and see this award as a chance to renew our commitment to our customers and artisans.”
Sheehy was born and raised in Levittown, New York, on Long Island. He attended Saint Leo University in Florida. He and his wife, Kristen, moved to Indiana in 2011. They have two children.
Sister Paula Damiano nominated Sheehy for the award as a result of the success Linden Leaf Gifts has had both in store, at events such as the Future Farmers of America, and through e-commerce sales.
“All of these areas have grown substantially over the last four years,” he said.
According to the publication, the program “acknowledges the new generation of gift industry extraordinaires. From shop owners and managers to stationers and company founders, we’re paying homage to those under 40 for their seemingly countless contributions to an industry we adore.”
The Gift + Stationery 40 Under 40 Awards are a partnership with the Gift & Home Trade Association. They are hosted annually by the Las Vegas Market.
