Get to know Sister Mary Mundy

“I love being a Sister of Providence. It means being happy when I put my feet to the ground every morning.”

On ministry as a pastoral associate: “My day is very, very much engaged with people.”

“I feel like I have found a lot more than I was seeking.”

On prayer: “I don’t know that I could make it through my day, in truth, if I didn’t have that time of serious grounding every morning,”

“I love community and we live community life in so many different ways.”

About Sister Mary

Current Ministry: pastoral associate, Holy Rosary Church, Evansville, Indiana
My good friend says … I’m “oil and glue.” I help keep things running smoothly and I hold things together.
My favorite thing about Saint Mary-of-the-Woods is … that it is “home” to many people and many of God’s other creatures.
Something sure to make me smile are … my niece and nephews and their children who are filled with good humor and great antics. There really is a lot of laughter when we are together.
When I am not at work or involved in ministry, you are most likely to find me … reading a good book, preparing meals for the week ahead, visiting with dear friends and family or taking a nap.
On weekends I … love to work! I’m a Pastoral Associate and these can be some of my busiest days. On my “day off” I love to be in nature, sit at water’s edge, read a good book or just stare into space doing nothing.
I am passionate about … living a life with meaning and wanting to balance my inner and outer worlds.
My biggest pet peeve is … people who need to know what they don’t need to know!!
Favorite form of prayer: I like to sit quietly, reflectively and sip coffee with God early each morning. We enjoy simply being present to one another.
