There are always opportunities to serve
On this MLK Day, we hope you explore our Volunteer Services opportunities at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods. Volunteering, in any capacity, is a way for a person to give back to their community.
The Sisters of Providence Volunteer Services has opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and walks of life. There are volunteer opportunities for those who are looking for a way to have a full and meaningful retirement, for those who have only a few hours each month or for young people who are just beginning to learn the satisfaction that comes from giving of yourself.
No matter what you are looking for in a volunteer opportunity the Sisters of Providence will find a place for you. If you are interested in developing a one-on-one relationship, you can volunteer as a regular companion to a sister who resides in a health-care facility. Through reading, letter writing, taking walks or many other everyday tasks you can bring real enjoyment to a sister who has spent a lifetime working to help others.
If your passion is environmental issues, come join the sisters in their work with our recycling projects, with biomass or in organic gardens. If you just love the outdoors, you won’t find a more beautiful spot to help plant, weed and care for the many garden areas.
The possibilities are endless.
Dr. King believed in a nation of freedom and justice for all, and encouraged all citizens to live up to the purpose and potential of America by applying the principles of nonviolence to make this country a better place to live. We hope you will consider continuing his legacy by choosing to volunteer with the Sisters of Providence.
