Biography
Sister William was born Dorothy Eyke in June 12, 1923. She died on June 19, 2014. She was 91 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 56 years.
Sister William entered the Congregation in 1958 after teaching chemistry at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College for several years in the 1950s. She was 35 years old when she joined the Congregation.
During the 1960s, she continued to teach chemistry at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. But in 1968, she was named the Academic Dean and then Vice President for Academic Affairs, where she ministered for nearly seven years. She continued teaching and conducting research until 2005.
Sister William’s quest for knowledge was remarkable as when many of her housemates at Woodland Inn had questions, others would say, “Ask William.”
