Biography
Sister Venard was born Helen Veronica Sequence on Aug. 30, 1918. She died on July 22, 2007. She was 88 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 68 years.
Sister Venard entered the Congregation on Feb. 2, 1939. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1941 and 1947, respectively.
Her teaching ministry began in 1941 at St. Joan of Arc, Indianapolis. She taught at other schools in Indiana, as well as schools in Illinois and Maryland. Sister Venard also ministered at Providence Retirement Home, New Albany, Indiana, and from 1976 to 1985, she ministered in various clerical positions in Chicago. She returned home to the Woods in 1985.
Sister Venard was known to tell jokes because she enjoyed laughing.
