Biography
Sister Theresa Rose was born Rosemary Butts on April 7, 1915. She died on Dec. 15, 2010. She was 95 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 76 years.
Sister Theresa Rose entered the Congregation on July 15, 1934. She professed first vows on Jan. 23, 1937, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1942.
Sister Theresa Rose began her teaching ministry in 1937 at Marywood in Evanston, Ill. She also taught at other schools in Illinois, as well as Washington, D.C., Maryland and Indiana. From 1988 to 1996, she ministered as the librarian at Mother Theodore Guerin High School in River Grove, Ill. After more than 50 years of teaching, Sister Theresa Rose returned to the Woods and volunteered in Residential Services.
It was said that Sister Theresa Rose loved playing Scrabble and reading the daily newspaper.
