Biography
Sister Sharon, formerly Sister Barbara Mary, was born Sharon Lee Sullivan on Aug. 27, 1931. She died on Dec. 21, 2012. She was 81 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 63 years.
Sister Sharon entered the Congregation on July 22, 1949. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1952 and 1957, respectively.
Her ministry in education began in Chicago in the 1950s before teaching at St. Joseph’s in Hawthorne, California. She returned to Indiana to teach and serve as principal at St. John’s in Newburgh for six years. She taught at other schools in Indiana. She then ministered at the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Central Business Office for five years before serving in health care at the Motherhouse.
She was known to be an avid reader.
