Sister Ruth Sampson

Biography

Sister Ruth, formerly Sister Constance Mary, was born Ruth Evelyn Sampson on Feb. 21, 1928. She died on June 5, 2013. She was 85 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 66 years.

Sister Ruth entered the Congregation in February 1947. She professed first vows on Aug. 15, 1949 and final vows in 1954.

She ministered as a teacher, director of religious education, a Montessori specialist, a tutor, teacher of English to non-English speakers in Indiana, Illinois, California, Massachusetts, Maryland, Mississippi, North Dakota, South Dakota, Main, Florida, Taiwan and Washington, D.C.

Sister Ruth was known for her spirit of freedom and independence.
