Biography
Sister Ruth Eileen was born on Oct. 19, 1925. She died on Oct. 7, 2011. She was 85 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 67 years.
Sister Ruth Eileen entered the Congregation on Feb. 2, 1944. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1946 and 1951, respectively.
In 1946, Sister Ruth Eileen began her teaching ministry at St. Ann, Washington, D.C. She also taught at schools in Illinois, California and Indiana. In addition, Sister Ruth Eileen ministered as a professor of theology at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College, and from 1981 to 1986, she ministered in the Congregation’s leadership.
Sister Ruth Eileen is remembered as having a “contagious energy that engaged those who worked with her.”
