Biography
Sister Rose Therese was born Mathilda Welp on Nov. 1, 1922. She died on Sept. 12, 2004. She was 81 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 65 years.
Sister Rose Therese entered the Congregation on July 21, 1939. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1942 and 1948, respectively.
Her teaching ministry began in 1942 at St. Patrick, Fort Wayne, Indiana. She taught at other schools in Indiana, as well as schools in Illinois and Massachusetts. In 1971, she began a ministry as a librarian and science teacher at Central Catholic, New Albany, Indiana, and from 1976 to 1983, she ministered as a librarian at Our Lady of Providence High School, Clarksville, Indiana.
Sister Rose Therese was one of seven children. Her family was from Huntingburg, Indiana.
