Biography
Sister Rita Lechner, formerly Sister Veronica, was born on Jan. 18, 1937. She died on May 24, 2010. She was 73 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 55 years.
Sister Rita entered the Congregation on Jan. 5, 1955. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1957 and 1962, respectively.
Her first teaching ministry was in 1959 at St. Ann, Indianapolis. She ministered as a teacher and principal at other Indiana schools as well as schools in Illinois. She ministered as a pastoral associate for 13 years at St. Jude Parish, South Bend, Indiana, and at two churches in Kentucky until 2007 when she began a ministry at Woods Day Care/Pre-School.
Her sister, Sister Mary Ann Lechner, is also a Sister of Providence.
