Biography
Sister Raymond was born Margaret Veronica Hunter on March 1, 1907, in Tannochside, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She died on Dec. 1, 2007. She was 100 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 83 years.
Sister Raymond entered the Congregation on Oct. 14, 1924. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1927 and 1932, respectively.
Sister Raymond ministered for more than six decades in elementary schools, with her first ministry taking place at St. Columbkille, Chicago, in 1926. She taught in other classrooms in Chicago, as well as schools in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Indiana.
Sister Raymond returned to the Woods in 1992, but continued to minister as a cook. At the age of 95, she officially retired once more.
