Biography
Sister Patricia, formerly Sister Leone Marie, was born Patricia Rose Melton on July 5, 1928. She died on May 25, 2006. She was 77 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 61 years.
Sister Patricia entered the Congregation on July 22, 1944. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1947 and 1952, respectively.
Her teaching ministry began at St. Patrick, Terre Haute, Ind., in 1947. She taught at other schools in Indiana, as well as schools in New Hampshire and Illinois. In 1978, she began a new ministry as a parish program coordinator at Immaculate Conception, Rushville, Ind., and from 1979 to 1996, she served as pastoral associate and later director of religious education at St. Mary Parish, Rushville. She returned to the Woods in 2003.
Known for her artistic flare, she was also known as a wonderful listener.
