Sister Mildred Anne was born Mildred Veronica on Jan. 3, 1918. She died on Nov. 21, 2012. She was 94 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 77 years.
Sister Mildred Anne entered the Congregation on Jan. 12, 1935. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1937 and 1943, respectively.
Sister Mildred Anne ministered as a music teacher for 66 years in schools located in Illinois, California, Indiana and Washington, D.C. At the age of 80, she was still teaching students at Precious Blood School in Jasper, Ind.
Following retirement, she returned home to the Woods and could be heard playing the piano in Providence Hall at 4 p.m., each day. After taking up residence in health care, she continued to share her piano skills, but one time refused to play a portable keyboard saying “because it was not a whole piano.”
