Sister Michael Ellen Green

Sister Michael Ellen was born Dorothy Ellen on July 22, 1929. She died on May 15, 2016. She was 86 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 65 years.

Sister Michael Ellen entered the Congregation in February 1951. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1953 and 1959, respectively.

For 34 years, she ministered as a housekeeper, cook and laundress in Indianapolis, Chicago and New Hampshire before coming to Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in 1965. She continued ministering in housekeeping at the Woods for many years. She also ministered as an assistant in physical therapy.

She was known as an avid lover of dogs, especially her dog Foley and her black spaniel, Cindy.
