Biography
Sister Maureen Clare was born Agnes Eleanor Lehmann on Feb. 2, 1916. She died on Aug. 11, 2012. She was 96 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 76 years.
Sister Maureen Clare entered the Congregation on Feb. 10, 1936. She professed first vow on Sept. 8, 1938, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1944.
She began her teaching ministry in 1938 at Holy Redeemer, Berwyn, Md. She taught in other classrooms at schools in Maryland, as well as schools in Massachusetts, Washington, D.C., Illinois and Indiana. From 1987 to 1993, Sister Maureen Clare served as a pastoral minister and administrative assistant at St. Rose Parish, Chelsea, Mass. She returned to the Woods in 1993 and volunteered with the General Administration staff.
Sister Maureen Clare was known for her sharp wit.
