Biography
Sister Mary Stella was born Mary Frances Morrissey on May 11, 1931. She died on May 12, 2011. She was 80 years old and was a Sister of Providence for 61 years.
Sister Mary Stella entered the Congregation on July 22, 1949. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1952 and 1957, respectively.
For approximately two decades, she ministered as a teacher at schools in Illinois, Maryland, Indiana and California. In 1971, she began a ministry at Lourdes Infirmary and then obtained her LPN degree. For the next 20 years, she ministered in various capacities at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and the motherhouse.
Sister Mary Stella was known to be an extreme sports fan, especially basketball and football.
