Biography
Sister Mary Aileen was born Elizabeth Jane Minta on Dec. 25, 1919. She died on June 24, 2006. She was 86 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 67 years.
Sister Mary Aileen entered the Congregation on Feb. 2, 1939. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1941 and 1947, respectively.
Her more than 50 years of ministry in teaching began in 1941 at Maternity BVM, Chicago. She taught at other schools in Illinois, as well as schools in Indiana and Massachusetts. She taught at Roncalli High School, Indianapolis, for more than 16 years before returning to the Woods in 1994.
An avid reader, Sister Mary Aileen was known to have a heart of gold.
