Biography
Sister Marie Esther is a native of Winthrop, Massachusetts. Currently, she ministers in prayer at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods.
Sister Marie Esther entered the Congregation on February 2, 1952. She took her first vows in 1954 and final vows in 1959.
She graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in Latin and a minor in English. She also received a master’s degree in Latin from Boston College.
Of her ministries, Sister Marie Esther taught in grade schools in all grades at various times except the eighth grade for 12 years before moving onto high school. She taught at schools in Terre Haute and Clarksville, Indiana; several schools in Chicago; two in North Carolina; and Malden, Chelsea, Taunton and Wakefield in Massachusetts.
She returned home to the Woods in 1995 and ministered in the Archives department for 21 years.
Sister Marie Esther said her favorite music is opera and classical.
