Biography
Sister Marie Ellen was born Marjorie Joan Sullivan on Aug. 21, 1926. She died on March 29, 2009. She was 82 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 64 years.
Sister Marie Ellen entered the Congregation on Feb. 2, 1945. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1947 and 1952, respectively.
Her teaching ministry began in 1947 at St. Philip Neri, Indianapolis. She either ministered as a teacher of English or Spanish, as well as a principal at other schools in Indiana, Illinois, Maryland and Washington, D.C. In 1975, she began a ministry as principal at Mother Theodore Guerin High School, River Grove, Illinois, where she stayed until 1987. She returned home to the Woods in 2004.
Sister Marie Ellen was known to enjoy conversation with virtually everyone.
