Biography
Sister Marian Elizabeth was born Elizabeth Agnes Moriarty on July 29, 1914. She died on June 9, 2008. She was 93 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 74 years.
Sister Marian Elizabeth entered the Congregation on Aug. 21, 1933. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1936 and 1941, respectively.
Her teaching ministry began in 1936 at St. Francis Xavier, Wilmette, Ill. She taught in many other schools in Illinois, as well as schools in Indiana and California. After close to 50 years of teaching in elementary schools, she ministered as a student service secretary at Mother Theodore Guerin High School, River Grove, Ill. She returned to the Woods in 1990.
Sister who lived with Sister Marian Elizabeth described her as being “bubbly” and “so much fun.”
