Biography
Sister Margaret Kern was born Mary Margaret on March 28, 1926. She died on Aug. 3, 2015. She was 89 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 64 years.
Sister Margaret entered the Congregation on July 22, 1951. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1954 and 1959, respectively.
Her teaching ministry took her to schools in Indiana and Oklahoma for 14 years. In addition, she also ministered as a professor at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College for five years before ministering as General Treasurer of the Congregation for 15 years. Sister Margaret also served as the director of finance for the Diocese of Covington, Ky., as well as a three-year stint as President of Mother Theodore Guerin High School for three years.
Sister Margaret was well-known for her sound advice on many matters.
