Biography
Sister Margaret Gallagher was born Margaret Therese Gallagher on Jan. 20, 1915. She died on Aug. 31, 2005. She was 90 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 73 years.
Sister Margaret entered the Congregation on Aug. 20, 1932. She professed first vows on Jan. 23, 1935, and final vows on Aug. 15, 1940.
Sister Margaret began ministering as a teacher at St. Benedict, Terre Haute, Ind., in 1934. She taught at other schools in Indiana, as well as schools in Washington, D.C., Illinois and Taiwan. Her final 19 years of ministry were in California, where she served as a pedagogical minister at many schools, including time as principal at Marywood School.
Sister Margaret retired in 1989, but stayed in California to care for her sister. She returned to the Woods in 2001.
