Biography
Sister Luke was born Kathryn Ann Crawford on Nov. 6, 1925. She died on April 25, 2014. She was 88 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 65 years.
Sister Luke entered the Congregation on July 22, 1948. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1951 and 1956, respectively.
Sister Luke ministered as a high school teacher early, teaching at schools in Indiana. She then moved to Washington, D.C., to begin a ministry at Immaculata Junior College. Sister Luke also ministered as Dean of Students and later Director of Admissions at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. She also worked as a lobbyist in the state legislature for the Indiana Catholic Conference before leaving Indiana to minister as Director of Communications for the Diocese of Venice, Fla. She was also editor of the Florida Catholic diocesan newspaper. She returned to the Woods in 2008.
Sister Luke was known to be quite the jokester and she loved dogs.
