Biography
Sister Karhryn, formerly Sister Alfreda Marie, was born in 1927 in Evansville, Indiana. She died on December 7, 2017. She was 90 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 73 years.
Sister Kathryn entered the Congregation in 1944. She professed final vows in 1952.
Sister Kathryn graduated from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College with a bachelor’s degree in education and earned a master’s degree from Indiana State University.
She ministered as a teacher for 39 years in schools in Indiana, Illinois, Oklahoma and North Carolina. Her first teaching ministry took place at St. Agnes, Chicago, in 1947. She also ministered as a teacher at Annunciation School in Brazil from 1976 to 1986.She began a ministry at Providence Retirement Home in New Albany in 1987 and in 2007, she returned to the Motherhouse.
She was a huge fan of football and opera.
