Biography
Sister Julia, formerly Sister Marie Loretta, was born Julia Lenora Shea on Sept. 14, 1916. She died on Feb. 20, 2007. She was 90 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for more than 70 years.
Sister Julia entered the Congregation at Maryhurst, Hyattsville, Maryland. She professed first vows on March 11, 1937, and final vows on Jan. 23, 1943.
She began her teaching ministry in 1937 at St. Clement, Lansdowne, Maryland. She taught at other schools in Maryland, as well as schools in Washington, D.C., Massachusetts, Indiana, Illinois and California. She also ministered as an administrative assistant to the Bishop of the Springfield Diocese from 1984 to 1997. She returned to the Woods in 2000.
She was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.
