Biography
Sister Joan, formerly Sister Ruth Cecile, was born Joan Klega on Aug. 2, 1931. She died on Dec. 21, 2007. She was 76 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 56 years.
Sister Joan entered the Congregation on Feb. 2, 1951. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1953 and 1958, respectively.
Sister Joan began her teaching ministry in music in 1953 at Holy Family, Jasper, Ind. She also ministered as a music teacher in schools in Illinois. After receiving her CPE, she ministered as a chaplain at Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge, Ill., and Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago.
She was known for her generous heart.
