Biography
Sister Joan, formerly Sister Ann Pierre, was born June Joan Frame on June 1, 1929. She died on Aug. 25, 2015. She was 86 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 68 years.
Sister Joan entered the Congregation through the Juniorate at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods in 1947. She professed first and final vows on Aug. 15, 1949 and 1954, respectively.
Sister Joan ministered in education for 38 years, in schools in Indiana, Maryland and Illinois. She also served in parish ministry in Indianapolis, for two years as pastoral associate at St. Simone, and as a pastoral minister for nine years at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in Indianapolis. She also ministered as a GED and ELS instructor at the Hispanic Education Center in Indianapolis before volunteering for two schools and parishes in Indianapolis for four more years. She returned to the Woods in 2006.
A newspaper article referred to her as “a living witness to the Providence of God.”
