Biography

Sister Jeanette, formerly Sister Margaret Therese, was born Jeanette Marie Flaherty on July 1, 1931. She died on Jan. 18, 2005. She was 73 years old and had been a Sister of Providence for 55 years.

Sister Jeanette entered the Congregation on July 22, 1950. She professed first and final vows on Jan. 23, 1953 and 1958, respectively.

Her first teaching ministry was at St. Jude, Fort Wayne, Ind. Sister Jeanette also ministered in classrooms in Indiana, Illinois, Washington, D.C., and Maryland. In 1973, Sister Jeanette began ministering in business management. From 1991 to 1997, she ministered as finance director for the Kenosha Dominicans in Kenosha, Wis., and ministered as bookkeeper at St. Viator Parish and Christian Churches Caring, Chicago, from 2000 to 2003.

Sister Jeanette had a deep-rooted passion for justice in all its forms.
